Our team finished our time in Kenya in the sweetest way: The Dream Center. This place is home to many things. It is a safe place for kids to come learn about Jesus, play, and receive food. It is a place of joy where kids are running around playing games, leaving their worries behind. It is an educational place, where God has given the staff the ability to open a school for many who otherwise would not be in school. It is a place that many call home, which our team was lucky enough to do the same for a short time.
While at the Dream Center we had many opportunities to pour into the people there (as well as be poured into ourselves by the amazing staff there). During the days we would be at the school, playing with the kids and helping the teachers with testing that was happening. Then, in the afternoon we would go back to the center, and be with the kids. Sometimes this would look like playing sports or running around deep into the night. Other times it was participating in Bible studies and talking about the love Jesus has for each of them. Then, on Saturdays the center would have what they called โThe 500 Club.โ In this, 500+ kids would come to the center and would participate in a time of singing to God, learning from His word, playing, then at the end they would receive a meal of beans and a bag flour to take home to their families. Kids would come from all over to attend the 500+ club, it is such a blessing in their life.
Our time as a team at Dream Center was the perfect way to end our time in Kenya. As mentioned above the sweet people who run this ministry has been able to open a school for these children. If you are interested in learning more about this organization, or supporting them, please let me know! Sponsoring one child means they get to go to a safe place for school, receive two meals a day, be with other kids, and be poured into by people who love Jesus!
After the Dream Center, we traveled to Nairobi to be reunited as a squad for our debrief! What a joyful time this was! We were together for two weeks where we dove into teaches, received freedom from many things by the power of Jesus, and got to spend intentional time together as a squad. While at debrief, we also received new team assignments, and our ministries for Uganda! Going into Uganda I am now on an all girls team, which the Lord has named โShalom Shalomโ or โperfect peace.โ In Uganda we are working with an organization called ChildVoice, which works with young women/mothers (more on this soon!). After two weeks together as a squad we left Nairobi and began our journey to Uganda. Once arriving we broke up into our teams and went to our separate ministries. We will be in Uganda a total of six weeks, but will be back together as a squad for Christmas! We are all so excited and expectant of what God will do in Uganda!
Prayer requests:
- Safe travels as we move around Uganda, both for teams and the squad as a whole.
- Prayers for physical health.
